Open Heart Is in Your Hands

There is one area in which Gwinnett County is critically underserved—lifesaving cardiac care. In fact, Gwinnett is the most populated county in the nation without an open heart program.

Minutes matter in cardiac emergencies. More than 8,000 cardiac patients come to our Emergency Department annually, and last year, 350 of them lost critical time as they were raced away from Gwinnett by ambulance or helicopter to secure life-saving treatment. This is frightening and unacceptable.

An essential element of our success depends upon the generosity of others. The GMC Foundation launched a capital campaign with a goal of $8 million that will be used to build additional surgical suites and accompanying facilities needed to operate the open heart program.
